Job Summary
Principal Product Designer for Toast IQ Core: lead design strategy and execution across web, mobile, and hardware for Toastâs AI assistant; shape AI capabilities, memory/personalization, and agentic workflows; collaborate with product, engineering, data science, GTM, and partners; drive end-to-end UX/UI for AI features; mentor junior designers; fluency with design tools (Figma, Miro) and AI tools; remote/hybrid team, distributed design culture; restaurant domain focus; emphasize user-centered design, usability testing, and accessibility; contribute to growth, experimentation, and adoption of AI features across Toastâs platform; a leadership role in a highly visible design function.
Required Qualifications
- Leadership: proven ability to lead high-impact design initiatives at a principal level
- Focus: end-to-end design for core UX/UI features within Toastâs AI ecosystem (web and native mobile)
- User-Centered Design: understanding of emerging AI use cases, usability, accessibility
- Pro-research: ability to conduct and coordinate data analysis, user research, usability testing
- Tools: proficiency in design tools (Figma, Miro) and AI tools (Claude, Codex)
- Partner Collaboration: strong communication in cross-functional teams
- Mentorship: ability to mentor junior designers and promote best practices
- Experience with growth and AI-driven experiences (nice to have)
- Strong technical fluency: APIs, data flows, personalization algorithms, LLMs, experimentation, automation frameworks
