Job Summary
Principal Process Engineer (AME) in Malaysia Penang leading transfer, scale-up, qualification and continuous improvement of key manufacturing processes. Owns process development and ramp readiness, defines and implements SPC/CPK targets and monitoring, develops SOPs and control plans, and collaborates with global AME teams, equipment vendors, and cross-functional groups to ensure stable, scalable, and cost-effective production. Responsibilities include process development & scale-up (development to mass production transfers, qualification builds, yield stabilization, process window validation), equipment qualification & scale-up (tool design, FAT/SAT, buy-off, line commissioning, vendor collaboration), and yield, quality & CI (8D/DMAIC/DOE root-cause investigations, scrap reduction, cycle time optimization, cost-down). Requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, process control knowledge, and experience in high-volume manufacturing ramps; preferred battery manufacturing/roll-to-roll or precision continuous manufacturing experience; Six Sigma Green Belt or above; strong cross-functional and cross-cultural communication. Required Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of: Mechanical systems and material behavior; Process control (SPC, CPK, DOE, variability reduction); Root-cause analysis and failure investigation; Production ramp and equipment qualification
- Clear communication skills and strong cross-functional collaboration ability
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation) in English
- Preferred experience in battery manufacturing, roll-to-roll processes, or precision continuous manufacturing
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or above)
- Experience working in multinational manufacturing environments
