Principal Practice Leader - Air Quality

Job Summary
Lead air quality projects involving emissions quantification, carbon programs, regulatory analysis, and permitting for compliance solutions. Manage project delivery, staff, and risk while providing technical leadership on Clean Air Act and state/local regulations. Maintain marketplace visibility through client engagement and industry presentations. Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring staff across North America. Drive vehicles to client and company sites as needed. Requires 10+ years in energy infrastructure siting and permitting, FERC certification, and NEPA experience. Full-time role with hybrid/on-site options available at company discretion.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biology or a related field
- Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G.)
- At least 10 years of experience in the energy infrastructure related to the siting, permitting, and licensing field
- Experience in managing permitting, planning, compliance and environmental oversight of linear energy infrastructure (and related fixed assets) projects
- Experience managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management
- Experience with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) certification process, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and state-specific local permitting requirements in the Appalachian Basin (including PA, OH, WV, NY, NJ, MD, VA, NC, SC)
- Experience in conducting environmental site assessments for compliance with NEPA
- Significant experience with FERC environmental regulations including capital project development for natural gas pipelines under Section 7c
- Experience with Federal permitting programs such as the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) 404 wetland permitting, the US Fish & Wildlife Service or the US National Marine Fisheries Sections 7 and 10 consultations, and the National Historic Preservation Act for Section 106 consultations
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel
- Field work and overnight travel
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree in the same
- Certifications or additional training or experience in erosion and sediment control inspection and wetlands delineation
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers
