Job Summary
Lead policy strategy and advisory work for Māori Health Strategy & Policy to improve health outcomes in New Zealand. Drive development of strategic policy advice to enhance health system performance, translate direction into policy, monitoring and accountability settings, and integrate data, evidence, and community insight. Manage cross-system policy and portfolios with strategic and tactical execution, build trusted relationships with stakeholders, and provide senior technical guidance to inform decision-making. Foster team capability through coaching and quality assurance while contributing to end-to-end policy processes. Requires a tertiary qualification, senior-level policy experience, strong systems thinking across complex health systems, deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in policy contexts, and exceptional written and oral communication, including policy briefings to Ministers. Based in Wellington; permanent, full-time role.
Required Qualifications
- An appropriate tertiary level professional qualification
- Relevant work experience in policy settings
- Ability to operate at Principal level and influence senior decision-makers
- Strong systems thinking across complex systems
- Understanding and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in policy contexts
- Experience developing and advising on complex policy issues and stakeholders management
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including policy advice to Ministers
