Job Summary
Design and develop optical modules for neutral atom quantum computers, architecting systems from early concept through production while coordinating with physicists and interdisciplinary teams. Lead product development processes, troubleshoot technical issues at headquarters and customer sites, and advance engineering practices through independent research and continuous improvement. Manage full lifecycle implementation of optical systems, leveraging simulation and CAD tools to translate scientific breakthroughs into deployable products.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in optics, optical engineering, applied physics, or a closely related field
- 10-15 years non-academic work experience
- Experience at an enterprise scale
- Experience at an enterprise environment
- Experience in a startup
- Deep experience and knowledge of Free-space optics
- Deep experience and knowledge of Lens design
- Deep experience and knowledge of Fiber optics
- Deep experience and knowledge of Lasers
- Deep experience and knowledge of Optical system characterization and testing
- Deep experience and knowledge of Opto-mechanics
- Experience bringing complex optical systems from concept to production
- Expertise with using Mechanical CAD software (e.g. Inventor, Solidworks)
- Expertise with using Product Data Management (PDM) software
- Expertise with using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
- Expertise with using Optical simulation software (e.g. Zemax)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with quantum computing, especially neutral atom
- Professional work experience in commercial product development
- Professional work experience in off-site product deployment at customer premises
