Job Summary
Principal Nuclear Waste Consultant at AECOM leads diverse nuclear-waste projects across international and UK-base scopes. Responsibilities include conducting and delivering technical work on radioactive waste management, waste strategy development, and decommissioning studies; managing tasks across technical, quality, and financial dimensions; mentoring team members; liaising with clients, advisors, and internal stakeholders; developing costed proposals and supporting business development; building long-term client relationships; and promoting internal networks to grow services. The role emphasizes delivering cost-effective, optimized solutions with a focus on quality, safety, and environmental care, while working in a flexible hybrid setup and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineers and specialists.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in radioactive waste management
- Knowledge of UK Site Licence companies or experience on UK nuclear licensed sites
- Consulting and project management experience
- Regulator engagement experience
- Waste management studies and strategy development
- Environmental studies and BAT assessments
- Ability to prepare costed proposals and support business development
- Strong communication and numeracy skills
- Self-starter with ability to work autonomously and in a team
- Desirable: Environmental permitting and compliance, decommissioning studies, NORM management, HA W knowledge, RWM disposal assessments
