Job Summary
Define the tech stack and rationale for the Payoneer mobile host application by evaluating native iOS, Android, Flutter, and React Native against performance, binary size, and team constraints. Build the foundational architecture, including module boundaries, navigation, dependency injection, state management, and the CI/CD pipeline. Establish the contribution model for product teams, defining public APIs, lifecycle hooks, and version compatibility standards. Own performance budgets, crash-free rates, and observability instrumentation to ensure stability across the platform. Partner with Application Foundations, Cloud Platform, and DevEx teams to integrate identity, secrets, and automation.
Required Qualifications
- Ten or more years of mobile engineering experience
- Built mobile applications from the ground up — not joined them, not iterated on them, but defined the foundation and shipped it to production at scale
- Honest, scarred view of what mobile platform decisions cost three years after you make them
- Deeply expert in at least one of iOS or Android
- Seriously fluent in the other (iOS: Swift, Swift concurrency model, UIKit and SwiftUI, Apple toolchain and release process, ecosystem)
- Deeply fluent in the other (Android: Kotlin, coroutines and Flow, Android lifecycle, Jetpack and Compose, Gradle, RxJava, ecosystem)
- Opinion on Flutter, KMP, and React Native that goes beyond preference — performance characteristics, ceiling, where each shines, where each fails
- Ability to defend the recommendation for a fintech app at Payoneer's scale
- Built and operated a modular mobile platform before, or something close enough that you understand the trade-offs
- Understanding of how to define module boundaries that survive ten product teams contributing in parallel
- Understanding of how to keep the host app coherent when contributors disagree
- Understanding of how to version a contribution model without breaking everyone
- Understanding of how to keep the binary lean as the surface grows
- Thought in budgets and measurements
- Driven startup time, frame rate, binary size, and crash-free rate as numbers on a dashboard
- Understanding of mobile observability at a level beyond crash reporting
- Shipped the instrumentation needed to debug production
- Communicate clearly with engineers, product partners, and executives
- Can write a one-page architecture proposal
- Can run an RFC that actually converges
- Can demo what you built so other engineers want to use it
- Can explain a stack decision to a CPO in language they care about
- Handle disagreement well — including with your peer Principal
- Know how to land a joint decision
Desired Qualifications
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into mobile applications — on-device models, conversational and agent UI patterns, latency-sensitive AI features, and the privacy and offline considerations that come with them
