Principal Mining Engineer

Job Summary
Conduct mine design for open pit and/or underground mines, including scheduling, optimisation, equipment selection, and operating and capital cost estimates. Oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle from proposal to senior review, delivering technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions that meet time, budget, quality, and safety requirements. Carry out technical work supporting due diligence reviews for mergers and acquisitions, manage tender and proposal preparation, and consult with peers to drive future-ready outcomes for top-tier clients. This role involves influencing major decisions across diverse commodities within WSP's Mine Advisory group, offering flexible working arrangements and access to a global mining network.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering or related discipline
- 15+ years experience in mining engineering across studies, operations, and/or consulting
- Proven capability in mine design, scheduling, optimisation, and technical review
- Strong commercial acumen and experience working directly with clients on advisory and technical assignments
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to turn insights into clear, meaningful recommendations
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams
- Valid driver's license

- Experience carrying out technical work in support of due diligence reviews supporting mergers, acquisitions under the supervision of other senior and principal engineers
- Experience managing the preparation of tenders, proposals and reports for clients
- Experience working on diverse projects across commodities and mining methods
- Experience with flexible working arrangements
