Job Summary
Lead the educational program at Edward R. Martin Middle School by maintaining a visible presence in classrooms, supporting curriculum implementation, and using data to guide school improvement. Recruit, supervise, and evaluate faculty while conducting observations to strengthen instructional practices and professional growth. Establish a safe, welcoming environment that promotes high expectations for student achievement, attendance, and behavior. Manage daily school operations, including staffing, budgeting, and facilities, while ensuring compliance with state and district policies. Collaborate with the Superintendent, families, and community partners to advance district priorities and support student success.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, administration, or a related field
- Current Rhode Island certification as a Building Level Administrator
- Documented proficiency as a classroom teacher
- Experience supervising, evaluating, coaching, or supporting educators
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to establish productive relationships with students, families, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members
- Administrative or leadership experience at the secondary level
- Experience supporting curriculum implementation and school improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to use multiple sources of data to identify priorities and improve student outcomes
- Experience developing and facilitating professional learning for educators
- Knowledge of MTSS, special education, multilingual learner services, intervention systems, and differentiated instructional practices
- Experience managing a school-based budget
- Demonstrated understanding of the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of middle school students
- Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, stretching, and walking
- Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, and/or moving light objects up to ten (10) lbs., and occasionally lift items slightly over ten (10) lbs.
