Job Summary
Lead the mechanical engineering function for a high-priority airborne command and control program. Serve as senior technical authority for mechanical design to support instrumentation integration across pre/post-mod testing campaigns. Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, oversee documentation (drawings, specs, analysis reports, test procedures), guide trade studies and analyses (materials, tolerances, stress), collaborate with systems/electrical/test leads for integrated solutions, ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, support configuration management and continuous process improvement, and work in a hybrid office setting with occasional travel. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance and be a U.S. citizen.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
- 14+ years of mechanical engineering experience
- PhD in a related field
- Experience in advanced mechanical design and analysis principles
- Proficiency with Computer Aided Engineering tools (e.g., CATIA)
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
- Proven technical leadership with ability to mentor and lead engineering teams
- Strong communication skills with senior leadership and customers
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for security clearance
- Experience in aircraft mechanical systems and aircraft modification and test programs
- Knowledge of systems engineering processes, configuration management, and regulatory compliance
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment
