Job Summary
Principal Mechanical Engineer responsible for the design and analysis of components and assemblies for passive RF antenna systems, collaborating with RF, Manufacturing, and Production to deliver manufacturable solutions. Responsibilities include evaluating customer requirements during pre-sale, providing technical estimates for proposals, designing hardware per specifications, leading in-house programs as the Responsible Engineer, ensuring design for manufacturability, performing static and dynamic analyses, generating and reviewing drawings with tolerance analyses, leading design reviews, documenting design work and SDRLs, mentoring the Mechanical Engineering team, and ensuring compliance with government regulations and spaceflight standards. Qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 10+ years in aerospace design, 3+ years in passive waveguide component design, proficiency with GD&T, SolidWorks, NEi/NX/Nastran or Femap, experience with CNC machining and 3D printing, environmental testing for spaceflight, and familiarity with ITAR/EAR requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering
- At least 10 years of related design experience within the aerospace industry
- At least 3 years directly relevant to passive waveguide component design
- Experience with GD&T
- Manufacturing drawing creation and requirements
- Materials consideration in designing for spaceflight applications
- Testing requirements and results interpretation for environmental conditions (vibration, thermal)
- Compliance to aerospace and spaceflight requirements
- Experience with SolidWorks
- Experience with environmental testing for spaceflight such as vibration and thermal
- Experience providing technical mentorship
