Job Summary
Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead end-to-end mechanical design and development of OSFP transceiver modules and related hardware, drive thermal management strategies, define module architecture and interfaces, design with sheet metal, die castings, injection molded plastics and TIMs, optimize for thermal performance, EMI shielding, manufacturability and reliability, lead NPI and manufacturing transfer, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate cross-functionally with optics, electrical, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver high-performance, hyperscale data-center hardware (OSFP-based modules) with 800G/1.6T focus. Responsibilities include thermal simulations (optional), heat sink and cooling solution design, GD&T and tolerance analysis, reliability validation, DFMEA/PFMEA, supplier qualification, and executive-level technical leadership; required experience includes 12–20+ years in optical transceivers or related data center hardware, and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Ideal background includes OSFP/MOD specifications, co-packaged optics familiarity, high-volume manufacturing, and Six Sigma certification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 12–20+ years of experience in optical transceivers, networking systems, semiconductor packaging, or data center hardware
- Strong expertise in OSFP/QSFP mechanical systems, thermal management, and precision design
- Proficiency in Creo, SolidWorks, or NX CAD tools
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, material science, EMI/EMC, and reliability engineering
