Job Summary
Principal Mainframe Software Engineer to develop and maintain high-volume production platforms in the FI Trading & Brokerage Services domain. You will work within an agile squad to deliver high-quality, innovative software solutions, leveraging COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2/VSAM, and Java. Responsibilities include analyzing maintenance needs, deploying releases into production, ensuring data security, and collaborating with product, architecture, and other engineering teams. The role emphasizes growth, mentorship, and continuous learning as part of Fidelity's digital transformation and cloud platform evolution.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of software development experience in business critical, enterprise-wide applications
- Mainframe development expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2 & VSAM
- Knowledge of MQ (nice to have)
- Development experience in Java
- Ability to perform detailed analysis and documentation for maintenance and improvement projects in batch and online environments
- Deploy and support software releases into production environments
- Experience with unit, functional and regression testing
- Experience writing COBOL/Native stored procedures (a plus)
- Experience in Distributed Technologies (nice to have / willing to learn)
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; effective written and verbal communication
