Job Summary
Seeking a Principal Investigator - Archaeologist with a Master's Degree and over 5 years of experience to lead and manage archaeological projects in Texas. Strong communication skills and familiarity with federal guidelines are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree from an accredited school in anthropology or a closely related field
- Must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Qualification Standards for Archaeologists
- 5+ years of experience (CRM experience preferred)
- At least 3 years in leadership positions
- Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Heritage Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas
- Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit
- Regional experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology (Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana)
- Demonstrated skills and supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork
- Must provide a writing sample from either a thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Experience with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations
Desired Qualifications
- Registered Professional Archaeologist (or ability to become registered)
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, ArcGISPro, Field Maps, Google Earth, ArcMap and/or other GIS programs
- Experience obtaining a Texas Antiquities Permit
- Significant lab and curation experience
