Job Summary
Principal Interconnect Development Engineer responsible for high-speed interconnect solutions for next-generation network switches and routers, including both connectors and cables. Work as the key development engineer between hardware design engineering and interconnect suppliers, influencing roadmaps and validating pre-NPI technologies for 2–5 year horizons. Provide technical consultation for interconnect component engineering, develop and execute validation plans, design test vehicles to verify mechanical and signal integrity, and collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to drive design-related changes. Requires deep industry experience, leadership in cross-functional teams, and strong modeling, analysis, and presentation capabilities. Education and experience include BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 15+ years in interconnect, including 10+ years hands-on with high-speed interconnect hardware and materials.
Required Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 15 years of deep industry experience with high-speed interconnect (≥56 GHz, ≥100 differential pairs) hardware, including both connectors and high-speed cables
- 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks, ProE or equivalent) and geometric tolerance analysis
- expert familiarity with industry standards for qualification and reliability
