Job Summary
Principal Infrastructure Architect on DigitalOcean's Hardware Engineering team. Owns the forward-looking hardware roadmap across CPU, GPU, storage, and infrastructure server SKUs, from silicon evolution to rack-scale systems. Serves as the primary technical stakeholder for infrastructure technologies, partners with product and hardware engineering SMEs, leads hardware selection/qualification, evangelizes emerging concepts to senior leadership, architects end-to-end server/storage topologies with vendors, leads PoC initiatives, mentors engineers, and represents DigitalOcean externally at conferences and in technical papers. This hybrid role is based in the Seattle metro area.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in server architecture, storage architecture, infrastructure engineering, or related field with track record of owning and deploying designs at scale
- Deep expertise in server and storage hardware platforms
- Working experience driving AI/ML hardware roadmaps
- Knowledge of CXL memory pooling, DPUs/SmartNICs, disaggregated storage, computational storage
- Ability to lead PoC initiatives and scale pilots into deployment standards
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and external vendor/partner interaction
- Excellent communication and leadership skills including mentoring engineers and representing the company externally at conferences and in technical papers
