Job Summary
Design and develop FPGA-based solutions supporting market connectivity, market data processing, and protocol acceleration for Equities Trading Technology. Define architectures for hardware-accelerated processing, establish engineering standards, and lead design reviews to ensure deterministic, high-performance computing capabilities. Analyse latency-sensitive workflows, optimise processing paths across hardware and software, and conduct performance benchmarking to reduce latency in critical trading infrastructure. Act as the subject matter expert for FPGA and hardware acceleration, providing technical advice to Product, Architecture, and Operations teams while influencing technology roadmaps and strategic investment decisions. Mentor engineers and collaborate with software, network, and vendor partners to integrate FPGA capabilities into broader platform architectures.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics or related discipline
- 10+ years engineering experience in FPGA development or low-latency platform engineering
- Extensive experience designing and deploying FPGA solutions in production environments
- Proven experience leading complex technical initiatives and influencing architecture decisions
- Strong understanding of high-performance computing and distributed systems
- Deep expertise in FPGA design and implementation
- Deep expertise in Hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog)
- Deep expertise in High-speed networking technologies
- Deep expertise in Low-latency market infrastructure
- Deep expertise in Protocol processing and acceleration
- Deep expertise in Real-time and deterministic systems
- Deep expertise in Performance engineering and benchmarking
- Deep expertise in High-performance networking
- Deep expertise in Linux environments and systems programming
- Deep expertise in Hardware/software co-design
- Experience within exchange, trading, market data or financial services environments
- Direct experience with market connectivity technologies
- Experience working with exchange matching engines or market infrastructure
- Advanced engineering or postgraduate qualifications
- Industry recognition in FPGA, networking or low-latency systems engineering
- Legally authorised to work in Australia on a permanent basis without any restrictions
