Job Summary
Principal Engineer leading the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of cloud-native application systems with emphasis on data solutions. Hands-on coding in Java and Python, architecting data migrations between on-premise and public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), and building high-performance data pipelines across on-prem and cloud environments. Guides application development with cloud-native best practices for scalability, reliability, and security; acts as a subject matter expert and mentors development teams. Collaborates across functions to define technical requirements and architectural patterns, and evaluates emerging AI technologies to contribute to the firm’s AI strategy. Requires strong backend and data-engineering focus, experience with RESTful APIs, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Docker, and familiarity with AI models and prompt engineering. Education: Bachelor’s degree. Time Type: Full time. Primary Location: Jersey City, New Jersey, United States.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8+ years of hands-on software development experience
- Expert-level proficiency in Java and Python
- Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale data migrations
- Experience building robust data pipelines across hybrid cloud environments (on-premise, AWS, GCP)
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, GCP)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with foundational AI models (Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, Llama) and prompt engineering concepts
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with ability to mentor engineering teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
