Job Summary
Principal Engineer Tool/ Sr. Principal Tool Engineer- Tool Design Engineer to design simple to complex tooling, drill jigs, assembly jigs, and dies using Catia/NX; lead design through fabrication with 3D concepts and ASME Y14.1-5-compliant drawings; mentor engineers and coordinate with internal/external customers; perform tolerance analysis and root cause investigations; support manufacturability and production manufacturing operations in aerospace contexts; requires DOD clearance and availability for 1st shift with 9/80 schedule and 10% travel; relocation assistance may be available.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience OR a Master’s Degree with 3 years of experience OR a PhD Degree with 1 year of experience in production assembly/fabrication (aerospace preferred)
- Ability to obtain and retain DOD clearance and program access in a reasonable time frame
- Ability to understand/read/apply GD&T to a blueprint
- Experience with CATIA or NX and ASME Y 14.5 in a design role
- Strong communication with leadership and ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders
- Experience in tooling design and fabrication processes
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Ability to mentor less experienced engineers; work autonomously and in a team
- Scheduling for 1st shift M-TH then M-Fri 9/80 (or similar)
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes (machining, forming, stamping, coatings)
- Proficiency with CAD/CAM tools and CAD/ CAM data management
- Active or ability to obtain DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required for government clearance
- Desirable: 5 years of experience in Catia or NX; 5 years of Tool Design
