Principal Engineer/Scientist – Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice

Job Summary
Lead projects for failure analysis, root cause analysis investigations, product development, and expert witness engagements while guiding and performing testing and analysis of electrical and electronics field failures. Identify and secure new business opportunities by cultivating client relationships and promoting Exponent through industry and legal contacts. Provide strategic consulting, manage project budgets, and develop staff in technical and business areas. Prepare written reports, proposals, and presentations, conveying technical conclusions to engineering, legal, and industry professionals. Domestic and international travel will likely be required.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- A practical and theoretical understanding of fundamental principles in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, and applying them in identifying solutions to complex technical problems
- Significant demonstrated experience generating business and managing client relationships, and a robust existing client base
- A proven track record of success in technical consulting in area(s) such as in: Power Engineering and Energy; Electronics and Semiconductors; Control Systems and Automation
- Prior experience delivering expert witness testimony
- Current Chartered Engineer (CEng), if applicable
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to gather information from, and convey technical conclusions to, individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business and industry
- Domestic and international travel
- Most assignments will require the ability to gather information from, and convey technical conclusions to, individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business and industry
