Job Summary
Define architectural direction across critical technology platforms and data capabilities, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles. Provide technical leadership on complex, cross-functional initiatives, making informed trade-offs across scalability, resilience, performance, security, and operational sustainability. Partner with Technology Architecture & Practices and peer Principal Engineers to establish architectural consistency and long-term platform sustainability. Raise engineering standards by mentoring senior engineers and strengthening DevOps maturity, deployment reliability, and secure-by-design practices. Guide the responsible adoption of Generative AI while reducing unnecessary technology proliferation. This role operates at the Director level as a senior individual contributor, driving engineering excellence across investment technology platforms that support risk management and operational decision-making for CPP Investments.

- Demonstrated experience leading architecture and engineering strategy across complex enterprise technology environments
- Deep expertise in distributed systems architecture
- Deep expertise in cloud technologies

- Deep expertise in modern engineering practices
- Strong understanding of DevOps
- Strong understanding of platform engineering
- Strong understanding of security-by-design
- Strong understanding of observability
- Strong understanding of operational resilience
- Experience designing and enabling scalable data platforms
- Experience designing and enabling data integration
- Experience designing and enabling data product capabilities
- Ability to influence senior technical leaders and business stakeholders through sound technical judgement and collaborative leadership
- Proven ability to mentor senior engineers and drive engineering excellence across multiple teams
- Experience evaluating emerging technologies, including Generative AI, and applying them responsibly within enterprise environments
