Principal Engineer - Product Group Engineering Modernisation & AI Adoption

Job Summary
Define and maintain enterprise engineering standards, reference architectures, and best practices across the organization. Lead architecture reviews, drive adoption of modern patterns including Domain-Driven Design and cloud-native platforms, and establish target-state roadmaps for legacy modernization. Champion AI adoption by developing governance models, coaching teams on code generation and refactoring, and measuring adoption metrics. Lead technical direction for migrating monolithic applications to scalable microservices while reducing technical debt and strengthening security. Act as a senior mentor to engineers and architects, building capability through design reviews and communities of practice to influence delivery quality and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field
- 15+ years of software engineering experience
- 5+ years operating in a Principal Engineer, Distinguished Engineer, Chief Architect, or similar senior technical leadership role
- Proven experience leading large-scale architecture and modernization initiatives
- Deep expertise in API Architecture
- Deep expertise in Microservices
- Deep expertise in Domain-Driven Design
- Deep expertise in Event-Driven Systems
- Deep expertise in Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Deep expertise in DevSecOps and CI/CD
- Strong software engineering background in Java, .NET, Go, Python, or similar enterprise technology stacks
- Experience defining engineering standards and governance models at scale
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
