Job Summary
Principal Mechanical Engineer leads mechanical analyses and design for advanced power plant products, including valves, actuators, and flow-control components used in nuclear power facilities; performs structural/thermal/seismic analyses, develops technical solutions, and creates professional reports compliant with environmental qualification and regulatory standards; collaborates with cross-functional teams to improve designs and advises on material selections; requires a Mechanical Engineering degree with substantial experience and US/Canada PE licensure, with expertise in FEA (ANSYS), valve/actuator design, and ASME/Nuclear industry standards; remote/hybrid work arrangement with a California-based role and competitiveness in qualification and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS with 10+ years / MS with 7+ years / PhD with 5+ years)
- Professional engineering licensure in the US or Canada
- Demonstrated experience in Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS)
- Demonstrated experience in pressure vessel, and metallic component analysis
- Experience with valve and/or actuator design and analysis
- Familiarity with ASME BPVC Section III (NB, NCD, NF, NE, or HBB), Section VIII Division 1 or Division 2, or Section I
- Familiarity with ANSI/AISC N690
- Familiarity with parametric modeling (SolidWorks)
- Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics is a plus
- Experience in the nuclear industry is a plus
