Job Summary
Principal Engineer for HVDC Electronic Hardware (PCB Power Electronics) sought to act as a technical authority across HVDC valve technologies, drive internal/external standardization, participate in IEC/CIGRE activities, and guide technology roadmaps and product development. Responsibilities include leading technical reviews, coordinating design reviews, mentoring engineers, supporting tendering and delivery, collaborating across GE Vernova businesses, and providing expert guidance on HVDC valve topologies, firmware, protection, and manufacturing considerations. Qualifications emphasize a deep technical understanding of HVDC valve hardware, power electronics, firmware development, and broad experience across design, testing, manufacturing, and regulatory frameworks. The role requires travel, collaboration with leadership, and thought leadership in advancing HVDC PCB electronics.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree or higher in a topic related to development of power electronic systems for high voltage applications
- Proven experience in power electronics with strong expertise in converter topologies and firmware
- Experience with Low Voltage PCB electronics, Control Systems and technologies relevant to HVDC
- Experience with firmware development
- Understanding of system design trade-offs in component selection and testing
- Familiarity with electronics design tools, mechanical layout, FPGA design and test
- Experience with patent evaluation and management
- Open to regular business travel
- Knowledge of standards/regulatory frameworks applicable to HVDC PCB electronics
- Ability to mentor high-potential engineering talents
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Leadership to pursue correct engineering process under adverse conditions
