Job Summary
Principal Engineer to join AECOM’s Infrastructure Development team in Ireland (Dublin, Galway or Cork offices). Deliver civil engineering design and multi-disciplinary services across project stages from feasibility through Detailed Design and Construction, oversee tasks, guide entry-level engineers, coordinate with internal/external teams, and ensure quality and risk management. Provide expertise in drainage design and broader civil infrastructure, leverage software such as Microdrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D, and work within a hybrid model. Emphasizes collaboration with authorities, developers, and universities, with a focus on delivering high-quality designs on time and on budget.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status with the Institution of Engineers of Ireland or Institution of Civil Engineers
- Experience in design and delivery of civil infrastructure from inception to handover including SUDs, water main distribution pipelines, storm and foul gravity collection networks, surface water catchment analysis, flood risk assessments, highway and pavement design, earthworks modelling, and working knowledge of DMRB and DMURS
- Experience using Microdrainage or InfoDrainage, AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Experience in multidisciplinary design teams and liaison with architects, planning consultants, and external consultants
- Experience undertaking site inspections, test witnessing and reporting, and responding to technical RFIs during construction
