Job Summary
Principal Engineer to provide Operations SME support for Missile Defense Agency programs at NSWCDD for Aegis BMD capabilities. Responsibilities include analyzing and developing counter-tactics for emerging threats, supporting tactical employment design for future Aegis Baselines, integrating new interceptors (e.g., GPI, SM-6/SM-3 variants) into the Aegis Weapon System, collaborating with systems engineering to validate high-fidelity modeling outputs, and contributing the warfighter perspective during software build testing. Requires excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines, US citizenship, and Secret (Top Secret preferred) clearance; up to 15% travel.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 20+ years of US Navy surface warfare experience or equivalent combination of active duty, industry, and/or civil service experience
- Specialized experience in Aegis Combat and Weapon Systems; Aegis BMD Sea-Based Weapon Systems; C2BMC; IAMD; Navy Integrated Fire Control (NIFC)
- Experience as TAO, BMDO, JICO, ICO, CIC Officer, AD Officer, or AAWC preferred
- Two (2) years' experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Formal degree supporting systems engineering and/or IAMD Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) certification is a plus
- Citizenship: US citizen required
- Security clearance: Secret clearance required at hiring; Top Secret preferred
- Ability to travel up to 15%
