Job Summary
Principal Engineer (Architecture & Platform) at CARE ADHD offers a hybrid role; you’ll provide technical leadership across architecture, engineering standards, and platform strategy while remaining hands-on with 40-60% of time in design, prototyping, and production code. You’ll lead architectural design across frontend, backend, APIs, infrastructure, and data, define scalable and secure engineering patterns, mentor senior engineers, and drive platform scalability and operational excellence. Requires significant experience building SaaS platforms, expertise in Node.js/TypeScript/React, AWS, PostgreSQL data modeling, and strong cross-team influence and communication. Hybrid work 2-3 days/week in Canary Wharf (London, UK). The role emphasizes collaboration with the Director of Engineering and delivery teams, plus opportunities to contribute to a modern software engineering culture with CI/CD, observability, automated testing, and cloud-native architectures.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience building and scaling modern SaaS platforms
- Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, React, and modern web architectures
- Deep understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, API design, and cloud native development
- Experience designing and operating solutions on AWS
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and data modelling
- Proven ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- A passion for mentoring engineers and helping teams succeed
