Job Summary
Principal Engineer-Applications within Microchip's Data Center Solutions team responsible for enabling Tier 1 storage/data center customers by shaping hardware requirements, leading design-win efforts, and guiding system bring-up across PCIe/SAS/NVMe storage controllers. Responsibilities include supporting, managing, and maintaining processor-based storage ICs and reference designs; collaborating with OEMs/ ODMs to define requirements and deliverables; understanding customer architectures to provide timely technical support; leading cross-functional teams for root-cause analysis; developing customer-facing documentation (user guides, release notes, training, reference designs, application notes); driving projects through management processes; and traveling to customer sites to debug systems. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in EE/CE, 5+ years of experience, strong design and board-level debug skills, High Speed Signal Integrity, cross-functional collaboration, and proficiency with test equipment; desired qualifications include PCIe/SAS expertise, firmware/software experience, project management, experience with RISC-based embedded processors (MIPS preferred), and kernel debugging skills.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in EE or CE
- 5+ years of experience
- Good design skills
- High Speed Signal Integrity
- Board Design experience
- Experience with board-level debug & bring-up
- Strong technical leadership, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills
- Experience with bench top equipment such as protocol analyzers/exercisers, logic analyzers, and other storage or networking related test equipment
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams across locations
- Travel within China and internationally, as needed
