Job Summary
The Principal Engineer - Aftermarket provides critical post-sale engineering support to maximize equipment uptime, performance, and longevity. Core duties include diagnosing complex field and R&M issues, performing RCFA, designing retrofit/upgrades, generating detailed 3D CAD models, BOMs, and service documentation, and collaborating with field teams, manufacturing, sales, and customers to scope and quote custom repair projects. The role also entails mentoring junior engineers, ensuring QHSE compliance during service activities, and traveling as required to support customers across domestic and international sites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
- Minimum 10 years of experience in product design or field engineering
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or Creo)
- Proven track record in root cause failure analysis and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of industrial equipment
- Experience with Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) equipment and offshore drilling processes
- Exposure to digital/service analytics tools and predictive maintenance solutions
- Leadership experience or informal team management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical audiences
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally
