Job Summary

Principal Engineer, Acoustics at HARMAN. Own end-to-end audio algorithm architecture for technology areas such as audio enhancement, beamforming, spatial audio, acoustic feedback control, source separation, and intelligent sound processing. Define system-level trade-offs across acoustics, DSP, latency, power, and hardware constraints; design, develop, and optimize audio and signal processing algorithms for embedded and real-time systems; balance audio quality with computational resources; mentor engineers, lead technical direction, and participate in code reviews. Collaborate with acoustics, software, product management, and UX teams, and evaluate and integrate advanced audio technologies. Must have a strong background in DSP, real-time constraints, and programming with C/C++, Python, and MATLAB; willingness to travel and work at an office location in Shenzhen.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Acoustics, Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in audio algorithm development or related field
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB
  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing concepts (filters, transforms, time-frequency analysis)
  • Experience delivering end-to-end audio features in commercial products
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Desired Qualifications

  • PhD or MS in Acoustics, Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 8–10 years of experience in audio algorithm development or related field
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, MATLAB
  • Experience delivering end-to-end audio features in commercial products
  • Strong understanding of DSP concepts (filters, transforms, time-frequency analysis) and real-time/embedded systems
  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and mentor engineers
