Job Summary
Lead software features in the LifeVest system, including design, debug, and technical supervision. Develop technical specifications, make architecture decisions, and manage engineering functions for complex projects. Conduct root cause failure analysis and design studies for future products while supporting sustaining activities. Provide technical advice to employees, coordinate outside resources, and scope work to mitigate schedule risks. Maintain software documentation and ensure compliance with IEC medical standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree In computer or electrical engineering
- 20+ years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years Experienced with C and or C++
- 10+ years C++
- Experienced at leading a small team of engineers (3-4)
- Extremely proficient in complex software design, troubleshooting, and testing
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical design and troubleshooting, as well as systems engineering processes
- Understanding of electrical design
- Understanding of electrical design and troubleshooting
- Understanding of systems engineering processes
- Proficient in the use of general engineering lab equipment including oscilloscopes, waveform generators, multi-meters, power supplies, etc.
- In-circuit emulators in embedded systems
- Good understanding of microprocessor hardware architectures (preferably ARM)
- Embedded user interface design
- Embedded Linux development
- Unit testing and test automation
- IEC medical software standards or other software quality standards
- Good code style practices
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
