Job Summary
Principal Electrical Engineer will serve as technical lead and system architect for complex medical device development programs, providing direction and mentorship to electrical engineers while ensuring compliance with FDA design controls and ISO 13485. responsible for driving full product lifecycle from concept to production, leading development of electrical hardware and integrated subsystems, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies (FMEA, testing, modeling), and contributing across multiple concurrent programs. Will lead design reviews, promote engineering excellence, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical deliverables with business priorities. Requires strong experience in microprocessor-based hardware, board-level design, signal processing, system integration, and proven ability to deliver in regulated environments with robust documentation, verification, and validation practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 7+ years of progressive engineering experience within the medical device or similarly regulated industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong experience in electrical hardware development including microprocessor-based systems
- board-level design, signal processing and system integration
- Proven ability to deliver products in regulated environments and experience with FDA design controls and ISO 13485 or equivalent quality systems
- Experience with computer-based simulation and analysis tools
- Design verification, validation, and analysis methodologies
- Risk management (FMEA), DOE, and statistical analysis
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
