Job Summary
Principal Electrical Engineer to join a small, collaborative engineering team focused on copper Ethernet cabling systems and hybrid fiber-power solutions. The role spans the full product lifecycle from concept and analysis through testing, documentation, and field support, acting as a technical generalist with depth in electrical engineering fundamentals. Responsibilities include design, analysis, and validation of copper Ethernet cabling systems; development and evaluation of hybrid fiber-power and powered communications systems; electrical modeling and lab measurements; failure analysis and root-cause investigations; laboratory testing and documentation; cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and compliance teams; interaction with suppliers and field personnel; preparation of technical documentation and design reviews; staying current with Ethernet, cabling, and power-delivery technologies; supporting product development-related activities and standards participation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required; other degrees not considered)
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong foundation in: Circuit analysis; Electromagnetics and signal integrity; AC/DC power fundamentals; RF principles
- Ability to work effectively in a small-team, multi-disciplinary environment
- Willingness to be hands-on in both lab and office settings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exposure to structured cabling systems, Ethernet PHYs, or high-speed copper links
- Familiarity with Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs)
- Familiarity with Time-domain reflectometry (TDR)
- Experience with MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for data analysis
- Awareness of TIA, IEEE 802, UL, NEC, or IEC standards
