Job Summary
Principal Biodiversity Net Gain Specialist responsible for delivering ecological BNG inputs and leading BNG assessments for large-scale UK infrastructure projects; produce and technically review BNG feasibility, design-stage reports, NBB assessments, and BNG assessments; collaborate with the BNG lead for UK&I to advance the BNG Vision; upskill ecologists, support client/stakeholder engagement (planning authorities, statutory bodies, public), drive innovation and digital biodiversity tool development with cross-functional teams, and lead bids/tenders while mentoring junior staff and peers. The role offers a flexible hybrid working model across multiple UK offices and contributes to a broad portfolio of ecology programs across the UK and Ireland with opportunities for career development and professional membership.
Required Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in ecology or an associated subject, membership of an appropriate professional institution
- Experience of leading BNG assessments on large-scale infrastructure projects
- Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and policy
- Experience of interpreting UKHabs data and Habitat Condition Assessments
- Experience of reviewing technical work, supporting wider team members, and bidding/tendering
