Job Summary

Conduct technical excellence in the specification, production, and assessment of design packages for infrastructure. Perform plant walkdowns and produce associated Periodic Safety Review deliverables, including assessment of structures, systems, and components. Specify reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure and evaluate work control procedures for maintenance. Assess infrastructure design, material state, qualification, and ageing mechanisms to permit continued facility operation. Ensure safety-related contract outputs meet requirements by acting as an intelligent customer while discharging a robust safety and security culture. This role supports the Client Design Authority's technical capability for defence infrastructure, requiring a UK national with security clearance for mainly remote work with occasional site visits.

Required Qualifications

  • Broad electrical engineering experience
  • Knowledge of systems such as HV/MV and LV distribution
  • Knowledge of protection systems
  • Knowledge of C&I systems
  • Knowledge of synchronous motors
  • Knowledge of frequency changers
  • Knowledge of diesel alternators
  • Demonstrable experience undertaking Periodic Safety Reviews (PSRs) in line with ONR Licence Condition 15 / DNSR Authorisation Condition 15
  • Assessment of Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs)
  • Assessment of design intent
  • Assessment of safety case adequacy
  • Assessment of ageing mechanisms
  • Assessment of continued fitness for service
  • Good understanding of British and international engineering design standards
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make evidence-based decisions using a range of technical data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise your workload effectively
  • HNC (or equivalent qualification/experience) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Detailed knowledge of the design intent for electrical infrastructure within the nuclear sector or a similar highly regulated environment
  • Ability to gain Security Clearance
  • Sole UK National
