Job Summary
Principal Design Reliability Engineer responsible for leading technical reviews, overseeing qualification/test campaigns for flight systems, and ensuring reliability of artificial-gravity space-station concepts. Will architect and guard engineering standards, guide design reviews, and build processes and templates to enable rapid, yet rigorous decision-making across teams. Requires leadership in cross-functional collaboration, deep experience in design ownership and reliability methodologies, hands-on experience with hardware integration and testing, strong scripting/data-analysis skills (Python/MATLAB), and the ability to influence at all levels while delivering safe, resilient solutions. Location-based on Torrance, CA with relocation assistance provided.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in responsible engineering, design ownership, systems integration, test engineering, or reliability-focused development
- Demonstrated experience conducting design reviews, qualification reviews, or major change assessments
- Strong communicator and collaborative leader with high emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and the ability to influence at all levels
- Resilient, curious, and committed to continuous learning in fast-paced or high-pressure environments
