Principal Design Manager

Job Summary
Lead coordination and integration of multidisciplinary design across major transport and infrastructure projects; embed safety in design; drive risk management; develop emerging talent; strengthen client relationships; deliver high-quality, constructible designs through the construction phase. Work with technical and project leaders to maintain design management practices, uplift capability, and contribute to strategic pursuits. Role may be based from Brisbane or Sunshine Coast offices; focus on delivering across large, complex projects with strong client collaboration and robust project controls.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience across major engineering design projects (typically 20+ years)
- At least 5 years in construction related environments
- Proven ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams on high-profile projects with design fees of $10 million+
- Strong knowledge of design management processes, construction methodologies, design risk management and safety in design
- Experience establishing and managing complex design systems, quality frameworks and verification processes
- Track record of building strong client relationships and working in joint ventures/alliances
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and leadership or safety training
