Principal Design Coordinator

Job Summary
Senior Principal Design Coordinator responsible for leading piping design teams and delivering GA, isometric, and 3D piping models in compliance with ASME/API/ISO standards. Drives scoping, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and cross-discipline coordination with mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, and construction teams. Oversees design governance, reviews stress analyses and material specifications, and guides innovative piping design methodologies. Represents piping in client meetings, prepares technical reports and design updates, enforces QA/QC, and mentors designers/drafters to maintain high-quality deliverables. Requires extensive piping design experience, Plant 3D proficiency, and strong leadership and communication skills. Must be authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 15+ years’ experience in piping design in Plant 3D
- Familiarity with CAD design and drafting techniques
- Experience leading designers/drafters
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3, B31.4 and API 570 (and related codes)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to mentor and train design staff
- Ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines (mechanical, civil, structural, electrical)
- Ability to prepare technical documentation and design reports
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel to project sites occasionally
- Experience with equipment layout, pipe support layouts, and MTOs
- Experience with QA/QC processes in piping design
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Understanding of safety and environmental requirements
- Field experience in plant environments
