Job Summary
Principal Design Analysis Engineer role in Goleta, CA. Perform hand calculations to scope higher-detail analysis models and conduct detailed thermal analyses to solve program challenges. Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware against customer requirements. Analyze test data to validate and correlate models; work with peers on moderately complex problems; present results to internal, external, and government customers. Lead the analysis/test team, mentor thermal engineers, interface with program leadership, and develop analysis plans aligned with program milestones. Requires STEM degree with extensive experience (8+ years, or advanced degree with 5+ years). Tools include Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus; CAD tools like CREO; strong mechanical/thermal analysis skills; ability to travel for program activities; U.S. citizenship is required; relocation is available. This role is onsite in Goleta, CA with hybrid work options and possible travel; salary range is $118,300 – $224,900 annually.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience or advanced degree with minimum 5 years of experience
- Experience in analysis using Nastran, ANSYS, Abaqus
- Experience in mechanical principles to solve thermal dynamic analysis
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated experience leading a small team of engineers (preferred)
- Experience with CREO or equivalent CAD tools (preferred)
- Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities (preferred)
