Job Summary
Principal Character Technical Artist responsible for leading character rigging, technical animation, and dynamic presentation in UE5; establishes technical standards, prototypes innovative solutions, and shapes the character pipeline across US and Valencia studios; partners with pillar teams to guide feature development, manages performance budgets, and mentors a team of character technical artists to maintain high visual fidelity in a live multiplayer environment.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of game development experience
- at least 3 years in a Senior or Principal Technical Artist role on a shipped AAA title
- Deep expertise in Unreal Engine 5 including Blueprints, Control Rig, Niagara, and physics/cloth simulation
- Expert proficiency in Maya, Blender, Houdini; strong scripting (Python, C++, or VEX)
- Exceptional understanding of human anatomy, facial/skeletal rigging, weight painting, and procedural animation
