Job Summary
Own the software requirements process end-to-end, from initial elicitation through sign-off, traceability, and change control. Define and continuously improve the lifecycle of elicitation, analysis, specification, validation, approval, baselining, and change management within the QMS. Run structured interviews and workshops with stakeholders to surface functional and non-functional requirements, then personally author user stories, functional requirements specifications, and interface documents to a standard clear enough for engineering and QA. Maintain a requirements traceability matrix linking business needs to test cases and manage formal review boards and approval governance. Identify gaps and ambiguities before they reach engineering, ensuring documentation meets audit standards like 21 CFR 820 and IEC 62304. This role connects business stakeholders, product management, and engineering to ensure well-governed development. Travel 2-3 times annually.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in business analysis, product management, or requirements engineering, with at least 2 years owning a requirements process (not just executing within one)
- Demonstrated experience with structured elicitation techniques (interviews, workshops, use cases, prototyping)
- Strong written communication skills. Able to turn ambiguous stakeholder input into clear, testable requirements
- Experience with requirements management or ALM tooling (Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps, Jama Connect, ReqView, IBM DOORS, or similar)
- Familiarity with both traditional (SRS-style) and agile (epics/stories/acceptance criteria) requirements formats, and judgment about when to use each
- Experience building or maintaining a requirements traceability matrix
- Hands-on track record of personally writing user stories, functional requirements specifications, and configuration specs
- Prior hands-on software development experience (e.g., as a developer, technical QA engineer, or solutions engineer), enough to read code and technical designs, ask credible questions of engineering, and judge feasibility and complexity when writing requirements
- Expected frequency and duration of travel: 2- 3 times a year
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar business analysis certification
- Experience in a regulated healthcare software industry where formal requirements traceability is an audit requirement (e.g., 21 CFR 820, IEC 62304, SOC 2, HIPAA)
- Exposure to API-first or platform products, where requirements often need to specify contracts/interfaces as precisely as user-facing behavior
