Principal Building Automation Engineer (IC5) – Data Center Operations

Job Summary
Lead and standardize building automation for hyperscale data centers as the principal engineer (IC5), owning enterprise BAS/BMS standards, sequences of operations, and cross-site deployment; drive automation architecture, control system integration, and operability improvements across HVAC, power, and critical systems, while collaborating with design, construction, commissioning, and vendor teams. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), 10+ years in building automation/controls, and deep BAS/BMS platform expertise (Siemens, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Tridium Niagara); focus areas include project lifecycle integration, alarm rationalization, analytics, commissioning oversight, PUE optimization, and technical leadership across Operations, Engineering, and external partners.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in building automation / controls systems, preferably in mission-critical or hyperscale environments
- Deep expertise in BAS/BMS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, Tridium Niagara)
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, chilled water plants, and critical power infrastructure
- Experience with control sequences, system integration, and networked control architectures
