Job Summary
Administer, evaluate, and modify instructional programs while managing human, financial, and physical resources. Supervise all school personnel, define the school's mission, and lead continuous improvement through curriculum alignment and data-driven assessment. Develop school improvement plans, coordinate with central office staff, and establish safety protocols including emergency drills. Engage community stakeholders, maintain a positive learning culture, and handle employee relations including hiring, discipline, and performance assessments. Drive school performance within the Anne Arundel County system.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university
- Three (3) years experience as a school-based administrator
- Knowledge of the curriculum of the schools of Anne Arundel County
- Ability to exercise initiative, tact, and good judgment in dealing with others
- Ability to build a school culture which takes account of the richness and diversity of the school's communities
- Ability to recruit and maintain a teaching and support staff that reflects the diversity of the student population and community
- Ability to create a team that works collaboratively and promotes high expectations for all students
- Demonstrated ability to garner support and resources, engage community organizations, individual education supporters, and businesses to support student achievement
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills inside and outside of school
- Ability to supervise school activities both inside and outside of classroom and both before and after school
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations
- Hold or be eligible for Supervisor of Instruction, Assistant Principal, and Principal licensure issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE)
- Driving is required to conduct bona fide Board business that is within the scope of employment in this position
Desired Qualifications
- Doctoral Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university
- Proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint)
