Principal AI Engineer

Lead the design and development of CNA's AI-native engineering platform as a principal engineer, overseeing end-to-end system architectures for agentic coding workflows, AI-augmented CI/CD pipelines, and scalable agent frameworks. Drive integration of AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) into the software delivery lifecycle, define multi-agent orchestration patterns and context engineering best practices, and provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams. Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Cloud Engineering, and Data teams to ensure regulatory compliance, security posture, and scalable deployment in GCP/GKE environments. Emphasize designing for speed, quality, and safe AI autonomy, while balancing trade-offs between rapid delivery and risk. Demonstrate strong communication to translate complex AI engineering concepts for technical and non-technical audiences, influence engineering culture, and contribute to the strategic direction of the engineering metrics platform. Required experience includes CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), container orchestration (Kubernetes), cloud platforms (GCP), and security-focused practices, with a track record of working across large organizations and mentoring engineers. This role is typically reported to at Director level or above, with hybrid work arrangements indicated by the posting.
