Principal AI Engineer - AI Tutor

Job Summary
Lead the design and development of an AI tutoring system that delivers real-time, adaptive learning experiences, including prompt architectures, agentic workflows, and scalable software integration across content pipelines and platform components; collaborate with educators, content creators, and product teams to translate pedagogical goals into technical solutions, prototype novel model interactions, and ensure quality, safety, and observability of model behavior; require strong Python software engineering, familiarity with production infrastructure and cloud environments, and an ability to reason holistically about AI behavior, content structure, and user experience while mentoring teammates.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years building complex LLM-based systems
- experience designing agentic workflows
- ability to design meaningful evaluation methods
- strong software engineering fundamentals
- fluency in Python
- experience with production infrastructure and CI/CD
- ability to follow AI research and apply ideas
- empathy for learners and content creators
- ability to translate pedagogical goals into system behavior
- holistic reasoning across AI behavior, content structure, and platform features
- familiarity with learning science or desire to develop expertise
- strong communication and mentoring in small, high-ownership teams
