Job Summary
Principal Advisor, Teaching Standards responsible for helping shape the design and delivery of a new Ministry Teaching Standards function. Provides authoritative advice on professional standards and regulatory settings, helps set strategic direction, and ensures alignment with workforce, curriculum and regulatory policy. Develops high-quality guidance, interpretation materials and governance papers, and supports engagement with providers, unions and professional bodies. Translates sector intelligence and monitoring insights into clear, actionable advice for governance and Ministerial decision making; contributes to cyclical reviews of professional standards, the Code and ITE requirements; supports design and implementation of new processes, monitoring frameworks and governance arrangements during establishment. Strong written and verbal communication, relationship leadership across the system, and adherence to Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct are required.
Required Qualifications
- substantial frontline education experience (teacher or principal level preferred) and ability to translate into senior strategic advice in regulatory, policy or system-level contexts
