Job Summary
Lead the communication and engagement approach for a new Teaching Standards function, shaping strategic communication planning across consultation, implementation and stewardship phases; develop high quality content and engagement materials across Ministry channels; support sector-wide engagement reflecting teachers, leaders, unions, ITE providers and other stakeholders; ensure messaging aligns with Ministry priorities and Teaching Standards planning; collaborate with Operational Communications and Engagement team to deliver a joined-up strategy, build content governance, and provide trusted advice to protect the Ministry’s reputation; refine channels and engagement approaches using insights to support continuous improvement; contribute to cross-agency forums to progress key mahi and strengthen trust and understanding across Aotearoa’s education workforce.
Required Qualifications
- Deep experience in strategic communications and engagement leadership within complex organisations.
- Ability to translate expertise into clear, system-level advice that supports national programmes of work.
- Proven capability to develop high-quality content across multiple channels (statements, web, intranet, social media) and to lead engagement with diverse stakeholders (teachers, leaders, unions, ITE providers).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to operate under pressure, manage multiple deadlines, and produce influential content across audiences and channels.
- Ability to adhere to and promote Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
