Job Summary
Plan, schedule, and execute preventative and reactive maintenance on school property, including plumbing, electrical repairs, roofing, and minor installations like dry-walling and brickwork. Supervise cleaning and maintenance staff, manage tools and equipment inventory, and conduct daily vehicle checks while ensuring all work adheres to safety protocols and building regulations. Document inspections, sign off on external service provider job cards, and resolve assigned tickets within SLA. This role supports SPARK Schools' blended learning model across 21 primary and 5 high schools, ensuring a safe, well-maintained environment for over 16,000 families in the Johannesburg region.
Required Qualifications
- Completed Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- Completed certificate in a specialised, related field (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, Building, Carpentry or Plumbing)
- English language proficiency & fluency
- Good literacy & numeracy skills
- Valid South African drivers' licence
- Police clearance certificate
- Computer literate
- Maintenance & groundskeeping experience
- Experience using small industrial/mechanical power tools
- Experience in a specialised, related field (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, Building, Carpentry or Plumbing)
- Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures & precautions and building regulations
- Ability to carry/handle items & goods
