Job Summary
Serves as a personal advocate for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their home and community, managing daily routines, medical appointments, and safety needs. Implements and monitors Person Centered Support Plans while coordinating with nurses, treatment teams, and families. Provides health, safety, and welfare support including medication administration, hygiene, crisis intervention, and transportation using company vehicles. Performs site maintenance, cooking, and cleaning duties while strictly adhering to household budget protocols and spending limits. Completes all documentation, training, and reporting on behavioral incidents and medical changes to ensure regulatory compliance. Works various shifts including overnight, responding to emergencies as they arise.
Required Qualifications
- General knowledge of the developmental disabilities system in Colorado
- Demonstrated skill in working with adults with developmental disabilities, preferably in a residential setting
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with individuals and groups at all professional levels
- Ability to productively confront conflict
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively with various technology including word processing software, internet-based databases, assistive technology, etc
- Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to meet Imagine! driving requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to drive a van with wheelchair lift
- Ability to work various shifts, including overnight shifts
- Willingness and ability to respond to emergency situations as they arise
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years of college preferred
- 3 months experience at the specific residential site preferred
- Ability and willingness to successfully complete required training curriculum
- 2 years of experience with people with IDD preferred
- Experience with individuals with Brain Injury and substance abuse and/or willingness to learn on the job
