Job Summary
Manage patient flow and clinical intake by obtaining health history, measuring vital signs, and documenting chief complaints in the electronic medical record. Prepare patients for examinations, administer vaccines, perform phlebotomy, and assist providers with procedures and specimen handling. Maintain exam room readiness by stocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and ensuring all necessary forms are available prior to visits. Coordinate care activities with primary care nurses and community resources while following Joint Commission standards for quality assurance and safety.
Required Qualifications
- High School or GED
- Graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health
- One (1) year or experience as a medical assistant in a medical setting
- Equivalent experience in a medical setting in a similar role
- 5 years is preferred
- Completion of a qualified training program such as EMT, CNA, or LNA
- Experience working in a health plan, medical group, health-related facility or medical/DME supplier
- Education, training or experience as an insurance coordinator or medical coder/biller
- Ability to obtain vital signs
- Familiarity with and ability to utilize an Electronic Medical Record
- Effective communication skills
- Demonstrated cultural competence and empathy
- Ability to use on-line training platforms
- Ability to review welcome packets and obtain consent forms, including the Release of Information and attach them to EMR
- Ability to learn multiple workflows and perform them consistently, such as referrals to specialists
- Willing to learn and utilize telehealth technologies (video, chat, etc.), when appropriate, for a variety of clinical care and care management services
- English speaking
- Bilingual (Spanish)
- Knowledge of the CCA Model of Care
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician
- Influenza vaccination
- Annual proof of Influenza vaccination
- Record of immunization verified
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred
- One (1) year or experience as a medical assistant in a medical setting or equivalent experience in a medical setting in a similar role is required (5 years is preferred)
- Experience working in a health plan, medical group, health-related facility or medical/DME supplier preferred
- Education, training or experience as an insurance coordinator or medical coder/biller preferred
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred
